Rafael “Tony” Bustillo

General Manager | Assistant Radiation Safety Officer (ARSO)

Operational precision shaped by decades of specialized experience

Tony Bustillo is ISO-RAD’s operational anchor – the person who turns complex technical requirements into consistent, safe execution. With 45+ years in industrial radiography and radiation safety, he brings “boots-on-the-ground” expertise that’s rare: hotcell realities, inspection discipline, and the instincts that prevent problems before they happen. As General Manager and Assistant RSO, Tony helps ensure that every shipment reflects the culture ISO-RAD promises: accuracy, preparedness, and respect for the responsibility of properly handling radioactive materials.

Professional Journey

Tony’s foundation includes military technical training and years of field radiography, followed by a long tenure in radioactive materials production and operations leadership.

Since joining ISO-RAD in 2016, he has supported operations and compliance while contributing directly to manufacturing and inspection across the company’s container and source portfolio.

Technical & Consulting Expertise

Tony is a highly skilled hotcell operator and hotcell tooling designer, with deep knowledge of source manufacturing/inspection and transport package execution.

At ISO-RAD he manufactures and/or inspects source families and supports Type A and Type B packaging—including ISORAD-TC1, ISORAD-TC3, ISORAD-SL1, SL1+, and SC1

He also supports and maintains ISO-RAD’s Quality Assurance Program and contributes as a consultant to the company’s container design and testing, licensing and SS&D requirements, and regulatory training.

Notable Projects & Impact

Tony’s credibility is built on repeatability. Across his career, he has trained hazardous materials workers and served as an instructor for USNRC Course H305 for 14 years -teaching radiation safety, source retrieval, and emergency response.

He holds Level II inspection qualifications (PT, VT) and leak testing (LT), reinforcing ISO-RAD’s inspection readiness and quality posture.

Personal Values & Leadership Style

Tony leads with humility and steadiness. He believes that attention to detail protects people: a correct document, a verified inspection step, a tool designed for safe handling, a well-tested procedure that works every time. His mentoring mindset helps younger team members gain confidence while never losing respect for the hazards involved.

As ISO-RAD expands its efforts in medical and radiopharmacy support, Tony’s strength is ensuring that clinical customers receive safe, dependable execution – consistent handling, inspection discipline and shipping readiness that uphold compliance and protect people across the logistics chain.

Closing Statement

Tony is committed to ISO-RAD’s mission of delivering integrated solutions—containers, sources, and consulting—built on safety, compliance, and operational excellence customers can depend on.
